What this is
unicode-to-bijoy.com is a free, browser-based converter between Unicode Bengali and Bijoy (SutonnyMJ) legacy ANSI text. It runs entirely in your browser and requires no account.
By using the site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
The service is provided “as is”
The converter is offered free of charge and without any warranty, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
We do not promise that the site will be available at all times, that it will be free of defects, or that it will produce the same output as any other converter.
Converted output can contain errors — verify it before you rely on it
Please check converted text before publishing, printing or submitting it.
This is not a disclaimer bolted on for form’s sake. Bijoy / SutonnyMJ is a legacy 8-bit encoding that maps Bengali glyphs onto Latin code points, and its publisher never released an official code point table. There is therefore no single authoritative answer: independent tools genuinely disagree on some rare conjuncts, and a different converter may give you slightly different bytes for the same input.
We keep the converter aligned with widely used implementations and we test it against large samples of real Bengali text, but a mismatch on an uncommon ligature is always possible. If your document is going to a press or a client, proofread the converted file.
What you convert is your responsibility
You keep all rights to the text you convert; we claim none of it. Because the conversion happens in your browser, we never receive a copy and cannot recover it for you.
You are responsible for making sure you have the right to use the text you convert, and for the final result that leaves this site.
Acceptable use
Do not use this site to convert, store or distribute material that is unlawful, or that infringes anyone else’s rights. Do not attempt to disrupt the site or to use it in a way that damages other visitors’ access to it.
Intellectual property
The site’s design, text and the conversion code are the property of the site operator. The code is available in a public repository; the open-source components it builds on remain under their own licences, which are credited on the About page.
Trademarks and affiliations
Bijoy is a commercial software brand, and SutonnyMJ is a commercial font. This site is an independent project: it is not affiliated with, authorised by, or endorsed by the owners of those names.
We distribute no proprietary font files and offer no font preview. The converter outputs ANSI code points only; to see Bengali glyphs you install a SutonnyMJ-compatible font on your own machine.
Unicode is a registered trademark of Unicode, Inc. in the United States and other countries. References to it here are descriptive.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, the site operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of the site or from reliance on converted output — including, for example, loss of profit, wasted printing costs, or a document that reaches a client with an error in it.
Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid to use the site, which is nothing.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the operator’s principal place of business, so far as mandatory consumer protection law allows. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when the service changes; the date at the top of this page will be updated at the same time. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Language of these terms
These terms are published in English and in Bengali so that Bengali readers can understand them without relying on a translation tool. The English version is the authoritative text: if the two versions differ in meaning, the English version governs.
Please write to [email protected] if a sentence in the Bengali version is unclear or reads wrongly — that is a defect worth fixing.
