The short version

The text you paste into this site is converted by JavaScript running in your own browser. It is never sent to a server, because there is no server that does conversion — this site is a set of static files.

We do not ask you to register, and we do not collect your name, e-mail address or phone number. There are no accounts, no newsletters and no payments.

Two things are worth knowing beyond that: the site keeps one small setting in your browser, and it uses analytics that generate an anonymous visitor ID. Both are described below.

Your text and your files stay on your device

Conversion runs entirely in your browser. When you paste Bengali text and read the result, no copy of that text leaves your device. You can verify this yourself: open the browser developer tools, switch to the Network panel, and convert a paragraph — no request carries your text.

The “Upload file” button reads .txt files with the browser’s local FileReader API, and converts Word (.docx) and Excel (.xlsx) documents entirely inside the page. Nothing is uploaded: the file is opened in your browser, the text inside it is rewritten, and the converted document is produced as a download. PDF and the old .doc/.xls formats are rejected rather than sent anywhere for extraction.

Because conversion happens locally, the tool also works offline once the page has loaded.

What we do not do

  • We do not store, log or read the text you convert.
  • We do not require an account and we do not collect your name or e-mail address.
  • We do not sell or rent any data to third parties.
  • We do not track you across other websites.

Information stored in your browser

This site stores two things on your device. Both live in your browser’s localStorage, and both can be cleared at any time from your browser settings.

  • io-size — remembers whether you chose the small, medium or large editor font. It is only written when you change that setting, and clearing it costs you nothing but a resized editor.
  • rybbit-visitor-id — a randomly generated identifier created by our analytics when you first load a page. It contains no personal information and exists only so repeat visits are not counted as a new visitor every time.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own, and neither does our analytics. That is why you are not asked to accept a cookie banner.

If we begin displaying advertising, the advertising provider will set cookies, and this policy will say so here before any ad is served. See “Advertising” below for the current state and the wording that will apply.

Analytics

We measure how the site is used with Rybbit, an open-source, cookie-free analytics tool that we host ourselves. Self-hosting matters: the measurements stay on our own infrastructure rather than being handed to an analytics company.

For each visit, Rybbit records the page viewed, the referring site, the browser and operating system type, the browser language, the screen size, the approximate country, region and city derived from your IP address, and any campaign parameters in the link you arrived through. It also autocaptures simple interactions such as button clicks, “copy” actions and form submissions, so we can see which parts of the interface people actually use.

Your IP address is used at the moment of the request to derive that approximate location and is then discarded — it is not written to the database. IP tracking is switched off for this site.

If a JavaScript error occurs, the error type, message and the page it happened on are recorded, so we can fix it. Error messages are generated by the browser and we do not inspect them for personal information.

The purpose is limited to understanding which pages are useful, which are not, whether the interface works, and whether something is broken for some visitors. We do not attempt to identify individuals from this data.

Advertising

This site currently displays no advertising, so no advertising cookies are set and no data is collected for advertising purposes.

If we start displaying advertising, this section will apply from that point on, and we will update the date at the top of this policy. Advertising is generally served by third-party vendors, and those vendors may use cookies, web beacons or IP addresses to select and measure the ads you see. Google, if it serves ads here, uses advertising cookies that let it and its partners show ads based on your earlier visits to this site or to other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time.

How long things are kept

We would rather state this plainly than imply a retention period we have not implemented. The analytics records described above are currently kept without an automatic expiry date — nothing deletes them on a timer today.

That is accurate but not ideal, and it is on our list to fix: the intent is to add an automatic cutoff so that records older than two years are removed. Until that is in place we will not claim it here. If you would like records that could relate to your visits deleted sooner, write to us and we will remove them.

  • Text you convert: not kept at all, because it never reaches us.
  • Editor font setting: kept in your browser until you clear your browser data.
  • Anonymous visitor ID: kept in your browser until you clear your browser data.
  • Analytics records: kept on our analytics server with no automatic expiry yet — see the paragraph above for the current state and how to have them removed.

Legal bases, and your rights

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on legitimate interests for the anonymous, aggregate usage measurement described above, and on your consent for advertising cookies where consent is required. The data involved is not used to make automated decisions about you.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict its processing, and to complain to your national data protection authority. Because we hold so little, most requests can only be answered with “we hold nothing that identifies you” — but we will answer, and we will explain what we checked.

The quickest way to remove everything this site stores is to clear site data for this domain in your browser settings.

Contact

Questions about this policy, or a request about your data, can be sent to [email protected]. We aim to reply within a few working days.

Language of this policy

This policy is published in English and in Bengali. The English version is the authoritative text: if the two versions differ in meaning, the English version governs. The Bengali version exists so that Bengali readers can understand the policy directly.

If any sentence in the Bengali version is unclear or reads wrongly, please tell us at [email protected] — we would rather fix it than leave it.

Changes to this policy

If our data practices change, this page changes with them and the date at the top is updated. Material changes — for example starting to serve advertising — will be visible here before they take effect.
