What this site is
unicode-to-bijoy.com converts Bengali text between Unicode and Bijoy (SutonnyMJ) legacy ANSI, in both directions. It exists for the everyday problem of moving Bengali text between a modern editor and a press or publisher that still expects the older format — and back again.
The site is free, needs no account, and carries no advertising at the moment.
Why everything runs in your browser
The conversion is plain JavaScript, so it runs in the page rather than on a server. That choice drives most of what is good about the tool: your text is never uploaded, the converter works offline once loaded, and there is no server to slow down or to pay for.
It also means we cannot see or recover anything you convert. If you clear the page, the text is gone from our side too — there is nothing on our side to clear.
How the converter is kept accurate
Bijoy / SutonnyMJ ANSI has no official code point table, so “correct” has to be established empirically: we check the output against the mapping data in widely used converters, against the fonts themselves, and against large samples of real Bengali text. Where implementations disagree, we choose the variant the market uses and accept that other tools will read our output differently in return.
The converter’s behaviour is covered by an automated test suite that runs on every change, including a round-trip check over hundreds of sentences of real prose.
Who runs this site
The site is run by an independent operator and is not connected to the makers of the Bijoy software or the SutonnyMJ font. See the Terms of Service for the trademark position.
